This directory is a Joint Project of the Fresno County Information and Referral Network: A Cooperative Program of Fresno County Agencies and Organizations Funded by Fresno County. The Fresno County Resources Online Directory contains information about public and nonprofit programs available to assist individuals in Fresno county. These programs cover a wide range of services, including food, clothing, housing, health care, transportation, and recreation.

California Report Card 2000

Children Now produced the California Report Card 2000. This report card and companion databook, California: The State of Our Children, focused on the status of a new generation of California teenagers, providing information for those developing policies that seek to capitalize on these special years. Mexican-American Prevalence and Services Survey (MAPSS) - Dr. Aguilar-Gaxiola of the Latino Mental Health Task Force and California State University Fresno
In this study, the prevalence of and risk factors for 12 psychiatric disorders were examined by sex and ethnicity (Indian vs non-Indian) among Mexican migrant farm-workers working in Fresno County, California. The results underscore the risk posed by cultural adjustment problems, the potential for progressive deterioration of this population's mental health, and the need for culturally appropriate mental health services. Dr. Aguilar-Gaxiola was the Principal Investigator for this study and founded the Latino Mental Health Task Force. The study was published by the American Journal of Public Health in April 2000. Study Linking Improved Air Quality with Decreased Emergency Visits for Asthma - Centers for Disease Control (CDC)

Atlanta's inner-city children on Medicaid seemed to benefit the most from this Olympic experiment in city transportation planning showing a 42% decrease in asthma-related emergency room visits. The University of California established the California Policy Research as a systemwide research and public service program charged with applying the extensive research expertise of the UC system to the analysis, development and implementation of state policy and federal policy issues of statewide importance. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is a leading content provider for public interest groups and concerned citizens who are campaigning to protect the environment. The Latino Coalition began as a project of the Public Advocates, Inc.
