Hunger Action Day 2016
On May 25, Metro joined the California Hunger Action Collation (CHAC) at the State Capitol for the 20th Annual Hunger Action Day! Every year in May, Metro ventures to Sacramento with a bus-load of participants to advocate for anti-hunger legislation that expands the reach of existing programs and policies to better the health of our community.

A few of the many bills our team championed included: College Student Hunger Relief Act of 2016, Lawfully Present Immigrant Hunger Prevention Act and SSI/SSP Incremental Restoration Act of 2016. In addition to advocating for these Bills, our participants engaged legislators with their own stories and struggles with food insecurity.

For nearly a decade, support from Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger has made it possible for the Central Valley to have a voice in hunger policy through Metro's Community Food Systems Program. We appreciate Mazon's continued support and the tireless efforts of the 2016 Hunger Action Collaborative: Fresno Hunger Count, The Fresno Youth Commission, CSU Fresno's Student Cupboard, Fresno City College's RAM Pantry and PASS Tutorial Center, Hinds Hospice and community partners.
